You exist at a particular level of development across dozens of developmental lines.<\/p>\n
This includes lines such as ego-development, moral-development, cognitive development, kinesthetic development, etc. etc.<\/p>\n
(This is called your Integral Psychograph)<\/p>\n
As a result you will most likely misunderstand or be unable to perceive everything that occurs in the levels development above you.<\/p>\n
This includes both emergent potentials and structures that already exist!<\/p>\n
But the sad truth is most people do not grow beyond Adolescence. They accept that who they are is the amalgamation of what their family, friends and society tell them they should be. Anything else is unknown. And the unknown is to be feared. The unknown is safe. Most people optimize for comfort, familiarity and security.<\/p>\n
They optimize for the antithesis of growth.<\/p>\n
But it does not have to be this way. Humans are not static beings or structures. We can learn. We can grow. We can evolve.<\/p>\n
The misunderstood can become understood. The invisible can become visible. The potential can become real.<\/p>\n
This IS perhaps the defining characteristic of human nature.<\/p>\n
Yet we must also recognize that “Anything is not possible”. There are real structural limits to our evolution and development.<\/p>\n
Some things are just physically impossible. Or practically psychologically or socially impossible.<\/p>\n
Economic systems are not significant to animals because they can’t perceive them.<\/p>\n
But this does not mean that economic systems don’t exist or that they aren’t extremely valuable.<\/p>\n
This kind of misunderstanding and obliviousness is happening all the time as humans communicate within and across cultures.<\/p>\n
Recently, I have been sharing many ideas on facebook that come from a holistically integral perspective, or Turquoise in Spiral Dynamics terms. To anyone not at this level of development, on at least some of their developmental lines, all these ideas of mine will likely appear irrelevant, or be misunderstood as arrogant.<\/p>\n
To the extent I am talking to one person or a group of people I try to use language and values that will resonate with them, but when talking to many people at once this is often impossible.<\/p>\n
You can’t please everyone.<\/p>\n
C’est la vie.<\/p>\n
Find yourself.<\/p>\n
March to the beat of your own drum.<\/p>\n
Don’t compromise.<\/p>\n
Stay on your journey.<\/p>\n
Learn.<\/p>\n
Adapt.<\/p>\n
Don’t Settle.<\/p>\n
Never Give Up.<\/p>\n
Ever.<\/p>\n
You reap what you sow.<\/p>\n
Life isn’t fair.<\/p>\n
As it should be.<\/p>\n
