A surprisingly large percentage of the republican party still subscribes to this agriculturally initiated value system.
But this is actually a wonderful exploration of healthy Traditionalism.
It’s important to talk about healthy and unhealthy states for each developmental value system.
Traditions are ways of encoding habits and routines that work for survival.
Unfortunately those traditions needed to be encoded with the omnipotent Father Figure of God for people to accept them.
Just ask Freud about the father complex.
At the time, fallaciously believing in the “Old Man in the Sky” was a necessary sacrifice, but now that belief has far too many destructive consequences in a globally interconnected world.
Fortunately traditionalism is dying a fast death because traditionalism sucks at adapting in a world of accelerating change!
So it needs to be appropriately shrunken down to pea size in its global-macro influence.
We must understand that humans are successful agents in a complex adaptive system.
But formerly adaptive agents die if they don’t change their habits when the system changes.
But we shouldn’t get rid of all of Traditionalism.
Traditionalism does have two very important values that have been lost in the ensuing value systems of Modernism and Post-Modernism.
And now in the cresting Integral Value system we must bring them back!
The two core values are Faith and Purpose.
Faith that is scientifically consistent and “trans-rational” based on bold hypotheses, extrapolation and testable speculative philosophy.
Purpose that is aligned with the direction of the kosmos.
Following, I will rewrite two Traditional statements from this video in Collective-Integral Values (Or Turquoise not Yellow…Yellow is only in touch with “interior faith” and completely out of touch with “purpose”):
“And because of our traditions everyone of us knows who he is and what God expects him to do”
“And because of systemic purpose everyone of us knows who we are and what the system needs us to do to further its evolutionary development”
“Without tradition our life would be as shaky as a fiddler on the roof”
“Without systemic thinking our lives are as shaky a fiddler on the roof”
