Most people have heard the quote, “All models are wrong but some are useful”.
Unfortunately they miss the deeper truth about what the quote is saying not just about models but about reality.
So let me extend this quote in perhaps a surprising but nonetheless truthful manner:
If all models are wrong then so are all of your feelings.
It’s simply a matter of where you chose to place the identification marker on the ladder of abstraction which extends all the way down. Beneath your thoughts. Beneath your feelings. Beneath the undifferentiated phenomogical continuum to sub-atomic particles…and deeper still.
Your feelings are wrong.
…but some are useful.
And I mean it too.
Your feelings are wrong.
No, I’m serious.
Your feelings are wrong.
