Naveed: I feel entrepreneurship is the ultimate expression of creativity.
Me: I was recently wondering if the great philosophers and artists from ages past, creative geniuses like Da Vinci, Picasso, Einstein and Nietzche, would be entrepreneurs in this day and age.
I believe there is a good chance they would.
For most of human history the pen was the most impactful, scalable weapon of to impact society.
Now it is the entrepreneurial management of technology.
True creative spirit is not a self-indulgent activity.
Rather creativity rushes through the human soul. Possessing the mind, heart and body with a fervor to drive the evolution of the cosmos itself.
Therefore the creative geniuses of any era are gravitationally pulled to the ripest, sweetest, juiciest medium of their time.
…Whether the creator is awake (thru contemplative practice) to their true nature as a post-personal conductive force or not.
Today the post personal creative force of spirit ripples through the great entrepreneurs of our era:
Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Larry Page, Mark Zuckerberg…
As their creative drive fuels the autopoetic assembling of our exponentially evolving and developing human species…
Building the next layer of societal sedimentary foundation for the more beautiful, complex and inspiring human and post-human humanity that lies inevitably in our future.
‘Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes…[who] push the human race forward’
Addendum:
Perhaps I should extend my claim a little more broadly from the management of technology to the participation in creation of technological ecosystems.
If Shakespeare were alive today the thesis isn’t that he would coding an e-commerce but I don’t think he would be a playwright. Rather I’d expect him to be someone more like Spielberg and Lucas, participating in the most powerful storytelling medium of our time. Perhaps using cutting edge distribution methods like direct consumer to delivery with Netflix and House of Cards. Or maybe he would have been a rapper like Jay-Z, Nas or Eminem, due to the deftness of lyric.
Take another genius of our time, Ray Kurzweil who is a very close Da Vanci comparable / reincarnation, who started out inventing and writing and now finds himself heading up engineering new artificial intelligence products at Google. That’s the “creative force of spirit” sucking him into the technology entrepreneurship vortex.
