External reality is about freedom “froms” not freedom “tos”.
Freedom from oppression, freedom from violence, freedom from theft.
While internality is about freedom “tos” not freedom “froms”.
Freedom to experience pleasure. Freedom to experience pain. Freedom to experience sorrow.
Freedom “from” an internal state is a relative, not absolute freedom because it is dependent on not having experiences that some part of you does not want to have.
“In life there is suffering” – The Buddha
“If you’re in this life, you will not escape unscathed” – Adyashanti
Absolute freedom comes from full engagement with the full spectrum of your experience, the good and the bad, the happy and the sad.
